Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival (YIDFF)'s 311 Documentary Film Archive, launched in November 2014, is the archive which collects and preserves documentary films about Great East Japan Earthquake occurred in March 11 2011 and their production materials. This archive aims to act as a referential site for documentaries about 3.11 and to encourage their screening opportunities in the world. It also contributes to create opportunities for future learning about the disaster and the process of recovery for citizens.

YIDFF has continued to introduce 3.11-related documentaries in the "Cinema with Us" section over the past editions, YIDFF2011, YIDFF2013 and YIDFF 2015. Many relevant documentaries have been sent to our office until today, while we have constantly received many inquiries about those films from around the world. For diffusing information on those works, we established this referential archive in the Yamagata Documentary Film Library and a bilingual online database on this website.
