In this two-part documentary, three poets who represent modern Japanese poetry, Gozo Yoshimasu, Ryoichi Wago, Shuri Kido travel to Ishinomaki in Miyagi, and talk about the Tohoku Earthquake, Covid pandemic, and their hometowns.
Director Onoda heard about the plan that three poets were going to Ishinomaki for a project by Kahoku News and Gendai-shi Techo magazine.
“I must film them" - Onoda bought her first video camera.
In Ishinomaki, they visited Okawa Elementary School Ruins. In the rain, Ryoichi Wago quietly spoke about his heart.
Then they went to “room Kinkazan” in Ayukawa town. 83-year-old Gozo Yoshimasu took the wheel and drove the car.
The next day, while climbing Mt. Hiyori, Shuri Kido happens to meet Makoto Abe, who is a storyteller himself.
Later, in Kamakura, the poets talked more and read poems. Onoda asked skilled documentary cinematographer Yutaka Yamazaki to film this part.
Onoda edited two 30-min programs, which were aired as TV programs.
