The Day the Sun Fell

Als die Sonne vom Himmel fiel

Aya Domenig

Switzerland, Finland/78min./2015

PB_adsvhf_20While tracing the story of her deceased grandfather, who worked as a young doctor at the Hiroshima Red Cross Hospital after the detonation of the atomic bomb, filmmaker Aya Domenig meets a former doctor and a nurse who lived a similar experience. Throughout his life, her grandfather never spoke about what he has went through, but talking to her protagonists brings her closer to him. When the nuclear disaster occurs in Fukushima on March 11, 2011, her quest takes a new turn.
