Ogatsu Elementary School, Ishinomaki City, was damaged by Great East Japan Earthquake. The 5th grade pupils tried to face the aftermath of the disaster and think about a desirable path for recovery from the damage. The project resulted in their art expression as a large woodblock "A Ship for Hope".

Director's Bio/Filmography | The Foundation for the Advancement of Juvenile Education in Japan (FAJE): The late Oga Takeo, founder of Shogakukan Inc., launched into a publishing business in 1922 and issued educational magazines for children by each grade. His creed was stated as: "The foundation of Japanese culture has been formed by education for elementary school children. It is the most important thing". Since then, his passion and ideal for youth education had never changed. After his death, Shogakukan succeeded his will and actively promoted publication for home and school education. It also established cultural foundation "Shogakukan Bunka Jigyodan", and carried out many educational / cultural projects through this organization. In 1967, Shogakukan renewed the foundation as The Foundation for the Advancement of Juvenile Education in Japan (FAJE). Today, they are working on various projects for promoting school education, home and social education, youth culture and special support education. |
