Hayasaka Yoko, who is deaf and was affected by the Great East Japan earthquake, serves as the navigator for this film. People who lost their lives in the tsunami. Stories from families and friends.
And the harsh reality that awaited those who finally managed to escape. People with mental disorders who were showered with boos and were told to "Get out!" of the evacuation shelters. A woman who was unable to sleep on the floor, and had no choice but to sit in her wheelchair for sixteen days. A blind woman who was forced to remain in the evacuation order zone for five days.
In this situation, several organizations for disabled people and support groups approached to give assistance, and received cooperation from local governments. Due to the disclosure of personal information, door-to-door surveys for the disabled were carried out in Minanmisoma City, Fukushima Prefecture and Rikuzentakata City, Iwate Prefecture. Pointing out the possibility of disaster occurrence, it explores ways of reconstruction in the future and community development, through featuring disaster-affected people and parties concerned.

Director's Bio/Filmography | Born in Nara. Hayase runs the Hayase-dojo cram school for deaf children in Gotanda, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo. He is also an education adviser at the Tokyo Metropolitan Otsuka School for the Deaf, and the President of the non-profit Smile Free School. He has been producing dramas and films as visual teaching materials for deaf children for many years. He appears on "Minna No Shuwa" (NHK Educational TV) as a teacher. |
