For Living with Children - Fukushima Teachers
子どもたちと生きるために 福島の教師たち
Yumoto Masanori
Japan/40min./2013
After one and a half years from the earthquake, what has happened to schools in Fukushima? Since the classification of the evacuation zone has reorganized and allowed to enter some sections, Fukushima students were living as refugees in warning zones as ever. A junior high school student in Odaka-machi, Minamisoma City, keeps shouting "I can't understand".
People cried our for "Reconstruction" outside of the evacuation zone, and the same circumstance as before the earthquake has been constructed, that is canceling outdoor activity restraint, opening a swimming pool and so on. The teachers put themselves in their students place together, how we live from now on, and started to put it into practice.
One of them is "Radiation Education". But, thinking simply, we didn't need a class of "Radiation Education", if the nuclear disaster never happened. It is, so to speak, compelled over assignments. The teachers face "Radiation Education", which was never taught. The Fukushima teachers have been living just in a matter-of-fact way. In there, peoples "power" was felt, and that was never able to describe with the words,"dream"or "hope", that we have been used as before.
